Making this friends only because I want to and I can.

Welp, I think I'm pretty much done with my Christmas shopping. Yay! I just need to get something for my best friend's 2 little ones. Her son is 2, almost 3, and her daughter is almost 7 months. No clue what to get a 7 month old besides clothes that she doesn't really need. I picked Tisha up the new Gwen Stefani cd. Anybody have and/or heard it yet? Wondering if it's any good. She liked her last cd though. Talking of Gwen Stefani makes me think of Fergie. Is it just me or does anybody else think she sometimes looks like a drag queen? Huh.

Gotta go, more later.

Candy Stripper might be more fun!

Candy Striper
You scored 68% Do Gooder, 69% Drive, and 50% Intellect!
(That's STRIPER, not Stripper) You are a very helpful person indeed, always ready to lend a hand, ear, shoulder, or any other body part that may be required. You are warm and caring, as well as resourceful and effective. You are actually one of the best categories of human beings on this test. You're smart, but not too smart for your own good. I think you could benefit from some self-preservation because you are such an unselfish giver who is willing to help at a moment's notice. Not that that's a bad thing, just make some time for yourself now and then. The world would benefit from more people like you.

All human being categories are: Lazy SOB, Rebel w/out a Cause, Evil Mastermind, Henchman, Criminal, Dictator, Frat Boy, Socialite, Philosopher, Stunt Double, Upstanding Citizen, Teacher, Cheerleader, Sister Mary DoGood, Benefactor, Loyal Sidekick, Candy Striper, Goody Two-Shoes.

An open letter to America...from the New Orleans Times/Picayune's Chris Rose:

Dear America,

I suppose we should introduce ourselves: We're South Louisiana.

We have arrived on your doorstep on short notice and we apologize for
that, but we never were much for waiting around for invitations. We're
not much on formalities like that.

And we might be staying around your town for a while, enrolling in
your schools and looking for jobs, so we wanted to tell you a few
things about us. We know you didn't ask for this and neither did we,
so we're just going to have to make the best of it.

First of all, we thank you. For your money, your water, your food,
your prayers, your boats and buses and the men and women of your
National Guards, fire departments, hospitals and everyone else who has
come to our rescue.

We're a fiercely proud and independent people, and we don't cotton
much to outside interference, but we're not ashamed to accept help
when we need it. And right now, we need it.

Just don't get carried away. For instance, once we get around to
fishing again, don't try to tell us what kind of lures work best in
your waters.

We're not going to listen. We're stubborn that way.

You probably already know that we talk funny and listen to strange
music and eat things you'd probably hire an exterminator to get out of
your yard.

We dance even if there's no radio. We drink at funerals. We talk too
much and laugh too loud and live too large and, frankly, we're
suspicious of others who don't.

But we'll try not to judge you while we're in your town.

Everybody loves their home, we know that. But we love South Louisiana
with a ferocity that borders on the pathological. Sometimes we bury
our dead in LSU sweatshirts.

Often we don't make sense. You may wonder why, for instance - if we
could only carry one small bag of belongings with us on our journey to
your state - why in God's name did we bring a pair of shrimp boots?

We can't really explain that. It is what it is.

You've probably heard that many of us stayed behind. As bad as it is,
many of us cannot fathom a life outside of our border, out in that
place we call Elsewhere.

The only way you could understand that is if you have been there, and
so many of you have. So you realize that when you strip away all the
craziness and bars and parades and music and architecture and all that
hooey, really, the best thing about where we come from is us.

We are what made this place a national treasure. We're good people.
And don't be afraid to ask us how to pronounce our names. It happens
all the time.

When you meet us now and you look into our eyes, you will see the
saddest story ever told. Our hearts are broken into a thousand pieces.

But don't pity us. We're gonna make it. We're resilient. After all,
we've been rooting for the Saints for 35 years. That's got to count
for something.

OK, maybe something else you should know is that we make jokes at
inappropriate times.

But what the hell.

And one more thing: In our part of the country, we're used to having
visitors. It's our way of life.

So when all this is over and we move back home, we will repay to you
the hospitality and generosity of spirit you offer to us in this
season of our despair.

That is our promise. That is our faith.

Michael Moore's Open Letter to President Bush:

FYI:

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane
Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be
airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military
choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears
parking lot. Man, was that a drag.

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could
really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like
helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye
of Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but
it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still
homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its
way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you
didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get
bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to
ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of
flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business
peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane
was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how
you specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans
this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you
hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army
engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important
construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I
was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as
you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster.
Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble
and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try
to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond
to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen
because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making
a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming
Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide
it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to
Cleveland.

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30
percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no
transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not
like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on
their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING
-- to do with this!

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army
helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the
Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.

Yours,

Michael Moore

HAPPY FRIDAY TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Some days you just wake up feeling good and in a decent mood. It doesn't happen very often, but fortunately it happened to me this morning. My eyes popped open and I thought, "hey, I feel pretty good this morning." Which is definitely better than yesterday. Wasn't feeling so hot yesterday, but today....today is gonna be a good one. It better be anyway. The past couple of days have been blah.

Tomorrow is my momma's birthday. When I get off work I will be making her a lemon cake with lemon icing (her favorite) and little star sprinkles! She'll be excited about the cake. I'm just excited about the star sprinkles!! yay!
It's the little things that do it for me.

I really need to tell you guys about the Tom Petty show I went to a couple weeks ago. It was one of the funnest times I think I've ever had and I have my boys to thank for it. They're the best (sometimes)!
Details to follow soon..........

I'm so excited because I have a 3 day weekend this weekend starting tomorrow! WooHoo. I'm going to Kokomo (about an hour and a half drive from me) to get my hair done. My good friend, Becca, goes to beauty school there, so I go out of my way to let her do my hair. She gave me highlights a few months ago that turned out great. Well now I have roots that are driving me crazy. Can we say white trash? Ha. So I'm getting it colored and cut. I don't even know the last time I got it cut. It's been a while and my hair grows pretty fast. My hair is naturally wavy/curly, but I've been wearing it straight lately, so I have to have a cut that looks good either way. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet. Hope it turns out good!

I had to get new front brakes put on my car last week. That's an easy way to burn $210. Fucking bummer. But now my car runs great with no annoying squealing sound whenever I brake. That's a plus.

Becca is staying with me all weekend. She's coming home with me tomorrow and I'm taking her back on Sunday. Should be fun. I think we're gonna drink every day. Ha. Gotta do it while we still can!
